Below are the answers to some frequently asked questions, however, don’t hesitate to contact me if you have further questions or require more details.
Q: What is the free meet-and-greet session?
A: After you get in touch, I will collect some basic details about your pet(s), your location and the type of dog walking or pet care you require and send you an information pack. Before you make your first booking, we will arrange a time for me to visit and meet you and your pet(s). During this session I can learn more about the specific needs, likes and dislikes of your pet(s) (and you!) and they can start to become familiar with me. Once some paperwork has been completed you will then be registered and you can request bookings as and when you require. This session is free of charge and carries no obligation to book a service.
Q: Do I have to book dog walking or visits for 5 days every week?
A: Absolutely not! Once registered (and spaces permitting), you can request any pet care service on an ad hoc basis or for regular days every week. Services may also be available on weekends (please see individual service pages for further information). You can vary the number of days required per week and also the duration of walks/visits each day, to suit your needs. Wherever possible, ad hoc/non-regular bookings for any upcoming week should be requested by 5pm of the previous Friday at the latest, to allow me to check availability and respond.
Q: What does a dog care booking include?
A: Dog care can be booked for dog walks as well as home visits. So whether you have a dog that wants a long, energetic walk or you have a puppy or dog that prefers a short walk, a dog care booking will be tailored for each dog. Equally, if staying in the house and garden is more suitable, I will keep their visit at home. Dog care bookings are for the duration booked and the time will be used to ensure they have fresh water, any required food, any medication needed, and filled as per agreed plan with local walks, indoor and outdoor play, and of course lots of attention and TLC! Please note: 30 min bookings will remain in the house/garden; for walks (leaving your property) please book a 45 min or longer slot.
Q: When should I use your cat care service?
A: Cat care visits are ideal for when you go on holiday, will be away for a few days or out for an extra-long day and you will be home much later than usual, for example, at a wedding, on a day trip, or at a business meeting out of town. I will visit to ensure your cat has food and water, clean their litter tray if they have one and spend time interacting with them in their favourite ways, be that playing with toys, belly rubs, chatting or even singing!
Q: Why do you recommend outdoor cats stay inside whilst I am away?
A: With outdoor cats, it is difficult to guarantee they will be at your home when I visit and if they are out I will not be able to check their well-being. Also, if cats are going in and out during your time away, I may not be able to accurately assess their food and water intake or check that their stools are consistent. However, this is only a recommendation. If you prefer your outdoor cat to continue to have outside access, and waiver my responsibilities to check the above, I will be happy to visit and do as much as I can during the allocated time slot.
Q: Which areas do you cover?
A: Listed prices include: Marykirk, Craigo and Luthermuir. Fuel fees will be applied (per visit) for Hillside, Laurencekirk, St. Cyrus, Montrose, Brechin, Keithock and other similarly distant locations (my Summary of Services document will be emailed upon enquiry ~ this details all service options, prices and surcharges).
Q: Do you take bookings for bank holidays/Christmas/New Year/Easter?
A: When available, I will take a limited number of bookings on public holiday dates. This will vary from year to year, please check in advance. A 50% surcharge will be added to the rate for bookings on general public holidays. A 100% surcharge will be added for Christmas Day/New Year's Day bookings.
Q: Do you take bookings on weekends or evenings?
A: I will be available most evenings and weekends during the year. Cat care and overnight sitting services are priced for any day of the week, including weekends. Dog care and small pet home visits are priced for Monday-Friday and will incur a 25% additional charge for weekend bookings. Evening bookings will incur a 50% additional charge (except for overnight sitting).
Q: How do I pay?
A: Charges will be discussed during booking and confirmed in writing. Regular/on-going services will be paid weekly or monthly, retrospectively, i.e. you will be invoiced after the end of a week/month for the services provided, and that payment will then be due within 5 working days. Ad hoc bookings will be invoiced after service delivery. Customers can pay by bank transfer or cash.
